Visually, the piece draws from the bold minimalism of the era inspired by the horizontal lined layouts of 1970s Penguin book covers. The series is limited to 9 variations, a nod to both the sum of 1 + 9 + 7 + 1 and my own connection to the number 9, which has always been lucky to me.
