Major J E M Pritchard parachutes from the forward car of the R. 34 to supervise ground handling of the giant airship upon its arrival in the United States. In so doing, Pritchard became the first man to land on American soil after an east west crossing of the Atlantic by air. The enormous airship, with the nickname 'Tiny', was damaged beyond repair by foul
